There was a time when gossip and chattering were exchanged over the back yard fence, or at the neighborhood tavern, or the beauty parlor. In the past few years, the best place for any kind of discussion on just about any subject is the Internet. There seems to be something and someplace for anyone who has a special interest. Today’s FamSite is just such a place, and it is for those of us who are interested in computers.
The site is called Slashdot: News for Nerd, and is an online discussion group for just about any topic relating to programming, computers, and other geeky type stuff. The topics change with great regularity, but there is a wide enough variety to keep anyone interested. For example, as I write this, there are ongoing discussion about the Super Bowl, or, rather the commercials, DVD hackers, pre-orders for the Phantom Menace, and a couple of Linux-based threads. The past few day’s threats are achieved for easy access, as well as book reviews, links to other sites, and a few choice topics that are intended to generate discussion.
So click on over, if you are technically minded. Even if you aren’t there is still enough variety here to keep you interested. Have a nice visit here today.
